The beginning of the IX c was marked as a revival of local statehood fulfilled by Tokharids and later Samanids. Termez was ruled by the members of Abu Ravudid dynasty and Chaghanian by Mukhtajids. As rulers Abu Bakr Mukhtajid and especially Abu Ali Chaghani played significant role in the administrative system of Samanids’ state.

From  10-11 cc Termez and Chaghanian were included into the states ruled by Turkic dynasties. Gaznevids, Karakhanids, Seljukids, Khorezmshahs, Anushteginids and in the VIII-IX cc occurs almost complete change of material, artistic and spiritual life. Glazing pottery and new types of construction as mosque, medrassah, minarets and mausoleums sprang up and was widely spread. Glazed ceramics, glasswork, metal trade and metallurgy got high level of development in this period. Trade, commodity and money relations were also highly developed as mints that used felces and dirkhams were located in Termez and Chaghanian. Old cities with three consisting parts as Ark, Shahristan and rabad got increased.

Termez and Chaghanian turn into one of the biggest trade and cultural centers in Central Asia, where prominent people like Khakim at-Termizi, Muhammad Termizi, poets as Farruhi and Mandjuki used to live. A lot of wonderful architectural constructions were built, among them the Mausoleum of Khakim at-Termizi, complex Sulton-Saodat and Jarkurghan Minaret. In 1220 despite of a heroic resistance Chingizkhan with his numerous army captured Termez by storm, completely destroying it. Afterwards the city was moved to a new place to the Surkhandarya Valley.
